Smiling Eyes Project, which is a civil society initiative, has chosen disability and art as a theme. The number of disabled people in Turkey is almost 8.5 million. 12.29 percent of whole population is disabled population. The number of visually impaired people in this percentage is 160.000. Smiling Eyes Project has been carried out in order to raise awareness about isolation of these people from the society. Within the scope of this project, 20 visually impaired people will be trained in photography. These visually impaired 20 people who are trained in photography, in company with the project team, will take photos of nature, people or anything else. These photos will be exhibited in the areas where people visit frequently. The project is carried out in Kocaeli and it will last for 210 days.
